The Little Boy Book: A Guide to the First Eight Years

June 30, 2009 By: jill Category: Boys, Mommy Jill, child development 2 Comments →

What a surprise that I will soon be having another baby girl while my eldest is also a girl and yet I have taken so much interest in buying and eventually religiously reading on this book, “The Little Boy Book” by Sheila Moore and Roon Frost.

I bought this on a recent book sale so that I would be able to understand my one and only little boy, my middle child.  I just sometimes feel I am loosing all my patience and thoughts come to my mind if I doing the right thing for him.  Am I just being too reactive on my little boy’s temperaments?

Having read the first few chapters have already enlightened me why and how my little boy acts so different from her big sister. As we all know, boys are more active than girls. Boys are more aggressive, more spontaneous, more defiant and more non-compliant. They tend to do what you would not like them to do. They would climb up and down, wrestle or hit other kids, eat anything even if it’s crawling, get dirty and the list goes on. Also, most of the boys have delayed milestone development and learning disabilities as compared to girls.

There are reasons behind these situations and I found them on the book. What a great help in understanding the temperaments of my little boy!

Some mothers who have little boys including me find it strange at first why my boy is acting so differently from his sister and even more different from how we as parents were as a child. Parents need to train boys. Boys need to get the message what parents want from them. The message that parents need to send would still be love and concern for their little boys no matter how difficult they may be.

I am beginning to really get equipped of how to handle my difficult child and be able to show more love for him while disciplining him.

More book updates from my reading!

Wanted: Nanny

June 25, 2009 By: jill Category: Mommy Jill 2 Comments →

Every morning before my part-time work starts at 2:00p.m. comes all the hope and prayer that my part-time yaya (nanny) will text me and say, “yes, I am coming this afternoon at 4:00p.m.”
Our schedule is on a day to day basis since she also has other obligations at her own home as mom and a wife too. But when either my hubby or my mother-in-law wants to look after or be with my children, the part-time nanny does not need to go to our house.

An unstable situation such as ours with my part-time nanny needs to be fixed. Lately, we have been asking family and friends and even using the internet (through Facebook, Friendster etc) to let others know we are in search of a full-time nanny.

However, by next week if nothing has happened yet we will be compelled to call the nanny who nannied my hubby when they were still very little. She is someone we really like because she is very masipag (diligent) and very trustworthy person. She has worked with us before but she had to go to her province to attend the Fiesta. Since then, she had not come back because we haven’t called her or fetched her.

She is the kind of nanny we always wanted it’s just that we needed her commitment especially when she needs to take an off from her labors, sometimes the day-off lasts until she is fetched from her place. =)

Added Student

June 23, 2009 By: jill Category: ESL Tutor, Mommy Jill 1 Comment →

I don’t know if this is a blessing or what. May be it is for some but with an added student for my Online Tutorials it would mean the later time I would get the chance to be with my kids. That is 20 minutes less for my kids. My hubby agreed with this added student even though I don’t really care how much it may add to my earnings.

I was even told that if I want some more extra classes I can always get some. One added student may just be fine but to have some more..oh no!!! That’s really a Mom’s dilemma when work cuts in the way. Sometimes it really is not about money all the time.

Though, I am still grateful for this because I am just at home and I can always hear them and if anything bad happens, I just need to open my door and lo and behold! I am with them. I am even not in a corporate or media world where work seems not to end or the demand for time is too much. Well, I guess I will just be happy about it. =)

Accidentally Meeting A High School Friend

June 22, 2009 By: jill Category: Etc Etc Etc 1 Comment →

After watching the movie at the SM Megamall’s Movie Promo, we dropped by at Cabalen’s to visit our friend from Church who works there. We were chitchatting just outside the restaurant about many things including the Movie Promo that we just had, as if promoting it.

While chitchatting, my eyes were partly looking at their seated guests until I had to look twice at someone I think I know. She did the same too. We waved at each other and she stood up to come near us. She was my high school batch from Adamson University. I just can’t remember if we became classmates. It was nice meeting her personally after so many years since high school. She was with her fiance and future in-laws.

Although social networking keeps us close to persons we haven’t seen for the longest time, nothing beats in seeing an old friend in person, physically. The smiles, the giggles and the face and eye expressions are very loud and crisp.

By the way, I am talking about Alice Capistrano who will tie the knot for good this December. I am happy for her!
