Last Check-Up Sept. 19, 2009, Saturday. 5pm. I was 5cm.
Doctor’s Advice Be confined.
Waiting for the Sign
I had several reasons not to follow the advice. Some plans had to change. Instead of watching KimmyDora at the Eastwood Cinema, we just had our usual food trip at The Shang. It was close to VRPMC. My hubby was very patient and very supportive on our walking around the mall until past 9pm just to observe any changes.
While I was still observing, we went home. Contractions were getting stronger and intervals became shorter. At around 2am, I had been given the sign – the bloody show. We then went straightway to the hospital.
Last Minutes (From 2:50am to 4:21am)
We checked in 2:50am. I was still 5cm. I offered a silent prayer. Around 3:40am, they said I was already 8-9cm. I suddenly felt, I started to push very hard even though they have sedated me. I can already feel it’s really, really there.
For the first time, I had been transferred to the Delivery Room without my doctors yet. I know, it’s really an unholy hour for anyone. Anyway, my whole body was trembling whenever I feel the contractions. The trembling of my whole body was the only time I ever felt in my whole life, not even on my first two deliveries because I know it’s really there. My breathes were deep. I was pushing very real good. That was enough to send the baby out.
I felt the pain but I know I was doing well. Deep inside, I felt this was the experience most moms would tell others that the natural birth delivery would be very painful but this would be the best experience a mom or woman would ever have. Partly, I felt that. I was suddenly interrupted by my doctor’s sweet friendly greeting. I had been given the anesthesia. It was a relief but I know I could have already made it on my own.
Finally, I had my one easy push and then I heard the baby’s cry. It was 4:21am. The fastest I’ve ever had.
Bianca Beatrice is another blessing in our life and another journey in my life I have to walk with her as a mom and as a friend.
Thank you, to all of you who have been with me throughout this pregnancy. Your prayers have reached the heavens. It was a safe and normal delivery.
